VAST numbers of marine "jelly balls" now appearing off the Australian east coast could be part of the planet's mechanism for combating global warming...

(Refers to the salp, an obscure invertebrate which soaks up CO2.)

It reminds me of a horror movie. Scientists discover a an organism that will prevent global warming. So they start breeding them...or whatever. But then it ends up that a surplus of the creatures causes something much worse than global warming.......

And they're slimy, too, just like in the best movies. Perhaps we can grow them in tanks (from which they'll never escape to terrorise us, of course.)
